Data privacy deals with the protection of digital information and data against manipulation, unauthorized access, theft, damage and other dangers, in short: data misuse by third parties should be prevented. Data protection regulates the collection, storage, further processing and use of data. Art. 5 para. 1 GDPR sets out the following data protection principles: Lawfulness, transparency, purpose limitation, data minimization/economy, accuracy, storage limitation, confidentiality and accountability.
