AIR·MS: AI Ready Mount Sinai
Improving patient care by advancing biomedical research in digital health and artificial intelligence.

In 2020, an international collaboration project was established to develop the AIR·MS platform. AIR·MS stands for “AI Ready Mount Sinai” and aims to provide data science researchers with streamlined access to diverse clinical data from the Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) in New York, including electronic health records (EHR), -omics, imaging, and sensor data, all within an integrated environment.
In the AIR·MS environment, multi-modal health data is leveraged to advance biomedical research discoveries supported by machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI). At the core of this environment is a research platform that hosts data from multiple sources existing at the MSHS.
In close collaboration with the New York-based Hasso Plattner Institute for Digital Health at Mount Sinai and the Digital Health Cluster of the Hasso Plattner Institute in Potsdam (Germany), Data4Life contributes as technology partner its know-how in building digital solutions for researchers.
This unique partnership combines expertise in healthcare delivery, biomedical research, AI, and digital engineering, fostering an environment primed for accelerated medical discoveries and improved patient outcomes.

How an Open-Source Chatbot Is Accelerating Research at Mount Sinai
In collaboration with the Mount Sinai Health System and the Hasso Plattner Institute, we are building a secure, scalable and transparent LLM infrastructure for clinical research.
Health data holds enormous potential – but only when it’s accessible, understandable, and actionable. That’s where our latest AI project with Mount Sinai comes in: An open-source, locally hosted chatbot designed to support researchers with data exploration, literature search, and documentation tasks – faster, easier, and always secure.
